Depression is BAD

“Here is the tragedy: when you are the victim of depression, not only do you feel utterly helpless and abandoned by the world, you also know that very few people can understand, or even begin to believe, that life can be this painful. There is nothing I can think of that is quite as isolating as this.”

-Giles Andreae

No matter what happens in life, you should never let yourself fall under depression. Even if something terrible happens such as a loved one passing away, trying to focus on the future and don’t let that terrible memory control your life. You have to keep your head up and move forward in life.

Being depressed will change you physically and mentally. I myself have not fallen to depression but I know a friend that has. Two years ago, my friend’s mom sadly passed away from cancer. My friend (who I will not name) was completely devastated and didn’t know what to do anymore. His father and sister were still with him but everything was not that same with his mom. He stopped playing video games with me and didn’t leave his house. His dad told me that he wasn’t sleeping and wasn’t eating as much. His grades were also dropping in school and he became a little more violent. He was different. He changed completely. I tried making small talk with him but he ignored me and even ignored his family. His dad and sister helped him seek out to a psychologist, who helped treat his depression after eight weeks. To this very day, he is looking better, his grades are back up, he’s going outside, and he’s talking to his family again.

Depression can really change people. It is really dangerous if left untreated, because it can lead to thoughts of suicide and violence. You should never let depression get the best of you. If you know someone that suffers from depression, get them help immediately.
